Why a daily breathing practice?
We know that stress is the biggest culprit for disease. High demanding lives and a multitude of responsibilities, it’s no surprise that our cortisol and norepinephrine levels are through the roof. Our lives can feel uncertain and we may experience overwhelming worrying and anxiety. This of course, causes us to be in a constant state of fight-flight-freeze arousal. This action of the sympathetic nervous system is a superb survival mechanism when we are in a life or death situation, but when it is continually activated, it takes a toll on our nervous system, on our overall health, our body and mind/emotions.
A daily breath awareness practice can support activation of parasympathetic nervous system arousal, which activates our body’s relaxation system, activating immune system function and helps release good feeling neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine and/or oxytocin.
Let’s do our part to activate the happy hormones in our body by practicing daily breath awareness practice like the one I show you on this video linked below. Practice this for 7 days, 14 days, 21 days and let me know the changes you notice with this simple yet profound daily practice. If you want to join me for daily practice at 7am, visit here for membership options through the nonprofit or email me to find out when our next practice begins.
